"Next month, New Zealand is scheduled to implement Section 92 of the Copyright Amendment Act. The controversial act provides 'Guilt Upon Accusation,' which means that if a file-sharer is simply accused of copyright infringement he/she will be punished with summary Internet disconnection. Unlike most laws, this one has no appeal process and no punishment for false accusation, because they were removed after public consultation. The ISPs are up in arms and now artists are taking a stand for fair copyright."

There's a petition here : http://creativefreedom.org.nz/

Nowhere to be found on any news site, all over the web otherwise. Search 'Guilt Upon Accusation'or 'Section 92 of the Copyright Amendment Act.' It's due to come into law on the 28th of Feb.

Ok i may be an idiot, but i don't quite understand what this means?
is it that if you get caught uploading something your in trouble? Or is it with Downloading too? How do they know if something is copyrighted? I just don't get it.

There's a few ways - ISPs can track the information passing through, the RIAA or other organisations can monitor people visiting fileshares...
I'm not entirely sure how they think they'll monitor it, but they seem to think they can.

They also say it's too hard to prove either way, which is why it's straight to 'disconnect on first offence'

Ok i kinda get that, but what exactly are they gonna be looking for, you know? And how will they know how to find it?
I dunno it all just baffles me.

It's been pushed through by companies like the RIANZ.

So I'm guessing... music downloads will be the main thing
